Photography is not only related to the click on the camera, lights, subject etc. It is something more than that; for some photography means bread and butter, for some photography has the capability to change their destinies. It depends the kind of photography one is involved in that decides his approach towards clicking the shots that need to be captured.

Photography is an expansive art that has more than glamour under its aegis. Both professional and amateur photographers favor a special type of photography over the other. This may depend upon the taste of the photographer or the understanding of the scope and the options available in that particular field.

The fun and excitement of Photojournalism is more than enough for several individuals who take up photography to tell stories to the world in the form of pictures. Photojournalism requires a photographer to shoot only the facts: no alteration or embellishment of the photo is permitted as this profession requires less creativity and more passion for bringing out the truth and presenting it before the world in the form of images that will speak for themselves. This kind of photography has been generally restricted to professional photographers instead of amateur photographers as one has to preserve the integrity of the original scene while shooting the images.

A Documentary photographer is responsible for telling stories with images. Images clicked by a documentary photographer are meant to be serving as historical document of a political or social era whereas Photojournalism images are more concerned with images of a present happening. Action Photography is another hot arena which has emerged as a major kind of photography type. An action photographer has a penchant for various subjects. Clicking spots or animals in action apart from clicking the take off of a plane all form part of action photography.

Macro photography involves the field of photography in which pictures are taken at close range this was once restricted to photographers with advanced equipment but as of now macro photography is much easier for amateurs to practice with digital cameras with macro settings that come inbuilt for the amateurs. Macro photography subjects may include insects, flowers, the texture of a woven sweater or any object where close-up photography reveals interesting details. Microphotography another niche of photography is used in disciplines as diverse as astronomy, biology and medicine.

Glamour photography, Wedding Photography, Portraiture all will extinguish the love and passion of photography once you start practicing them. People are the main subjects in these kinds of photograph. Apart from these types there are Advertising Photography, Travel Photography, Art Photography, Underwater Photography, Aerial Photography that have their own set of loyal audience.
